i want to grow up to be a consumer

it is somehow sad what is becoming of our world today.... the 60's and 70's with all their pangs and sorrows where a creative new start with so much to offer in all areas, art, music and technology, it was a world of innovation, and dreams of becoming a fireman and becoming an astronaut oriented our lives and brought the same joy, christmas decoration gave to the tree, however as we progress deeper into the 21st century, our dreams have been diminished to want and greed, turning us into no more than consumers following orders and moving to the rhymes of the few, we have lost all free will in the pursuit of our freedom and ridicule and sinicism has become widely celebrated as our last cry of self recognition and proof of existance, as labels are put on everything and the everything is monitored and controlled, our limits were pushed further and further turning our pursuit of independence into a pursuit for the bizzarre, the quick and the uncanny, as we sit upon the sofa idlely watching the world become what some of us wish it to be.

I am neither an advocate of right nor left, nor of fundamentalists or liberals, i do not know what we should do to make the world a better place, i also have my prejudices and my flaws, but i do know it's not working this way, and it's heading towards the edge of a deep crevice, signs are appearing everywhere reminding us of how ignorant and self centered our decisions were, regarding the environment, and the community, and world wars and death is only becoming a statistic in the 9 o clock news, told by poker faced or maybe pretentious news casters who care less about the death tolls they speak of than about finding the right style of shoes or hand bag.

There are signs and there are messages and messengers, but now that i've grown up i've come to know better than believe one side of any story, either way, i would never know.

We're not preparing our kids to inherit the earth but we've already inherited it from them, if they have no voice or recollection of what is theirs then we might as well just sabotage it for ourselves, as long as no youth fountain is discovered, we'll only get to live for so long.

There is something, there definitely is, i can't pin point it, but all my instincts amd senses are on alert just as all governments are declaring a state of emergency.
